My dad got the truck from a salvage yard in Rigby Idaho in the early 90’s. He upholstered the seats in the salvage yard owners car in trade for the truck. The truck was a 2wd, step side, inline 6, ex-forest service truck. He painted another guys car in trade for the 429 engine build. The engine has ported Dove heads, 9.5 C/R, Lunati split duration cam, edelbrock carb/intake, msd distributor, box, knock sensor and in cab timing controls. 4 speed manual trans, 3.73 gears. He wanted the truck to have all the trim/accessory options that would have been available for a truck in 65 so he rounded up/modified all pieces from salvage yards. My dad did all the fab, bodywork, paint and upholstery. He got the truck on the road in 94. He drove it daily as his only truck until 2010 when he passed away. He put about 115k miles on it.
I drove the truck to his funeral, then the truck sat in my mom’s garage until 2019 when I finally brought it to my place. I have put just over 8k miles on it since I have had it. It still has his Creedance Clearwater CD in the radio and all his stuff in the glove box, door pockets and under the seats. It looks, sounds and smells the same. The truck is family.
